YKI reassessment: deadlines, fees and a practical checklist

A disappointing result leaves two different questions: whether you understand the assessment, and what to practise next. A reassessment examines your existing test responses; it is not an opportunity to submit improved answers. You can continue learning while checking the available review procedure.

Use the correct official deadline

OPH gives a direct reassessment window of 30 days from notification that your certificate is ready. It also describes a separate procedure: request information about the application of assessment criteria within 14 days, then request reassessment within 14 days of receiving that information. Read OPH’s instructions for the route you choose; do not assume that waiting for a paper certificate starts the clock.

Cost and outcome

The published fee is €108 per subtest. Different assessors review the original responses. OPH says the fee is refunded if the grade changes. Official reassessment statistics are available on the same page; they are historical results, not your personal probability of a change.

Make a decision sheet

Create four rows, one for each skill. Record the reported grade, the grade needed for your goal, and whether your concern is about understanding the criteria or reviewing the result. Keep a separate line for the official notification date and the applicable deadline. This separates a procedural decision from the understandable frustration of an unsuccessful attempt.

For example, a learner who needs to improve writing can still draft a new service request this week. They can check whether it names the problem, explains the circumstances and asks for a clear action. That practice does not alter the submitted exam response, but it remains useful whichever decision they make about reassessment.

• Read the official procedure linked below, including the payment instructions.
• Select the subtest or subtests you want reviewed.
• Check the deadline from the official notification and keep your confirmation.
• Avoid promises that a borderline grade will change; a practice-site score cannot establish an assessment error.
